When I was in the second grade my parents signed me up for a ski program that my school offered. Every other Friday we would get out of class early and ride the bus up to Sundance Mountain Resort for ski lessons. It was always such a fun experience being able to get to leave class early and go do something so fun. I was able to do that for a couple years of my elementary school days.
In fourth grade something traumatic happened to me. I randomly had a seizure and the doctor told me not to ski as if I had another one while skiing things could be really bad. I didn’t ski that year or the next year, or the next year. It had ended up being a couple years of me not skiing and it was really hard. At first it was for a medical reason but then it turned into me just forgetting about skiing.
During the 2014 olympics in Sochi I started watching the snowboarders and skiers. I watched that and just totally missed it. The next week I signed up for lessons again but this time as a snowboarder. I had always wanted to learn how to snowboard. After a year of learning I decided I wanted to work at Sundance Mountain Resort as a lift operator. I wanted to get a free ski pass and meet more people to go on the mountain with. I was able to do that for two years.
The next year I met some new people and they encouraged me to get a Brighton pass so I decided to get one and had that for two years. I really love going to Brighton and it is for sure my favorite resort in Utah. I even did a blog post on it. You can find that blog post right here.
This year I decided to get the Ikon pass because I saw how amazing of a deal it was. My best friends were also on board to getting it so we decided to do it. This pass allowed us to visit most of the resorts in Utah 5 times and then we would get a season pass to Solitude Mountain Resort. A couple of resorts on the pass were skier only and both my friends are skiers. I decided to pull out my skis as it was easier. After going skiing a couple times I remembered how much I truly loved skiing. I fell right back in love with the feeling and all the memories I have had with it. I have put the snowboard away for now but I plan on bringing it back out soon.
